2016 Session 5: Leadership Session 1

“The works of the flesh can’t accomplish the fruits of the Spirit.” This is the underlying theme of Dr. Nunnally’s session today. In no place is this observation better demonstrated than in Christ’s admonition that leaders must be willing to be servants.

“God says, ‘I’m going to send you shepherds after my own heart, shepherds that will feed your knowledge and understanding.’ ”

2014 Session 5: Deaconess — Dignified

In this session, Dr. Nunnally continues with an examination of the two lists of believers found in Romans 16. Again, as before, the subject offers a snapshot on the composition of the first Christian communities. The discussion also ranges back into the subject of “women in leadership,” and the importance of both male and female adherents to the spreading of the good news throughout the world.

2014 Session 2: Community

Part of the mission of the Body-of-Christ is to those outside the faith. We’re also on a mission to our brothers and sisters who worship with us, within the Body-of-Christ. In this session, Dr. Nunnally reminds us that the early church required new leadership, as well as a new community and fellowship. “Beginning in the book of Acts we find — not just the disciples — but we find upwards of 120 people who have constituted themselves around the person and teachings of Jesus … as a unique community.” A community that included the earthly family of Jesus. “Community” is a vital part of “new life in Christ.”
