2014 Session 2: Community

Part of the mission of the Body-of-Christ is to those outside the faith. We’re also on a mission to our brothers and sisters who worship with us, within the Body-of-Christ. In this session, Dr. Nunnally reminds us that the early church required new leadership, as well as a new community and fellowship. “Beginning in the book of Acts we find — not just the disciples — but we find upwards of 120 people who have constituted themselves around the person and teachings of Jesus … as a unique community.” A community that included the earthly family of Jesus. “Community” is a vital part of “new life in Christ.”

2013 Session 23: God Honors His Word Above His Name

In this session, Dr. Nunnally continues with Romans 15. The discussion begins with the understanding that God’s expects us to “get along with each other.” Rather quickly, though, the discussion turns to some of the difficult social issues faced by the body of believers. A theme that has come up so many times, returns as a point of emphasis: how are we to judge without being judgmental? With the “norming” of homosexuality, Christians face a challenge when it comes to loving the sinner, but hating the sin.
